Wizards have announced the new D&D story Line for 2015. Its ELemental Evil. Long time players of D&D will remember the Temple of Elemental Evil as a place that you never really wanted to go, its on the same level as the Tomb of Horrors.
Well for 2015 we get to revisit it in at least one form, as a new adventure system board game. This means it is compatible with Castle Ravenoft, and the other D&D board games that have been released previously in this line. The board game is actually the Temple of Elemental Evil, and here is a picture of the box, and a little synopsis of the game from the Wizards website.
“In the Temple of Elemental Evil board game, you play as a heroic adventurer. With amazing abilities, spells and magic weapons, you must explore the dungeons beneath the Sword Coast where you will fight monsters, overcome hazards and find treasure. Are you ready for adventure?
The Temple of Elemental Evil board game features multiple scenarios, challenging quests and cooperative game play designed for 1-5 players. The contents can also be combined with other D&D Adventure System Cooperative play board games, including The Legend of Drizzt and Castle Ravenloft.”
The board game is set for release in April 2015.
Along those line they have said they will release a Roleplay adventure spanning from levels 1 t0 15 and will be released in the same format as the Tyranny of Dragons product line. Here is what they have to say about the first product, Prices of the Apocalypse, due for release in April as well.
“Abolish an ancient evil threatening devastation in this adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game!
Called by the Elder Elemental Eye to serve, four corrupt prophets have risen from the depths of anonymity to claim mighty weapons with direct links to the power of the elemental princes. Each of these prophets has assembled a cadre of cultists and creatures to serve them in the construction of four elemental temples of lethal design. It is up to adventurers from heroic factions such as the Emerald Enclave and the Order of the Gauntlet to discover where the true power of each prophet lay, and dismantle it before it comes boiling up to obliterate the Realms.“
Accordign to wizards they will be introducing the Genasi as a playable race, those of you who played 4th edition will remeber these being introduced in the Forgotten Realms Players Guide, as well as some new elemental skills and feats and other character customisation options.
They are also releasing some other bits like a DM screen with artwork to match the Elemental product line, Here is what Wizards has to say about the whole Elemental Evil Product line thing:
“Characters in the D&D tabletop roleplaying game can help prevent devastation to the lands and people of the Forgotten Realms in the Princes of the Apocalypse adventure by Wizards of the Coast and Sasquatch Game Studio. Princes of the Apocalypse is available on April 7, 2015 and includes an epic adventure for characters levels 1–15 as well as new elemental spells and the element-touched genasi as a new playable race. In addition, a free download will be available in mid-March that includes more new races plus the player content available in Princes of the Apocalypse, just in time for the start of the Elemental Evil season of the D&D Adventurers League.
Other products tied into the Elemental Evil storyline include the Temple of Elemental Evil Adventure System Board Game and pre-painted collectible miniatures, both from WizKids Games. WizKids has also partnered with Perfect World Entertainment to bundle in-game items for Neverwinter with the Temple of Elemental Evil Adventure System Board Game and miniatures boosters. Rounding out the tabletop RPG game products is Gale Force Nine’s new Dungeon Master’s screen featuring Elemental Evil art, as well as unpainted, resin miniatures that tie into the adventure, all slated to release beginning in March.”
That’s all there is to say about it for now, as they produce more information about the story line and the products we will of course keep you up to date with what’s going on.
