FFG have announced the first full length pre-written adventure module for the Star Wars: Edge of Empire RPG. Its called Beyond the Rim, and no, there is no official release date for it yet.
The FFG article (which can be found here) has this to say about the module:
“Beyond the Rim is a full-length adventure in three acts that carries players from the bustling, hub-and-spoke space station known as the Wheel all the way to the surface of a deadly jungle planet at the edge of Wild Space. In this epic tale of exploration, your characters will seek fame, fortune, and opportunities to repay old debts. You’ll dodge Imperials, explore distant worlds, run into rival parties, confront new adversaries, and uncover decades-old secrets from the Clone Wars. The ninety-six pages of Beyond the Rim contain enough material to make veterans out of new characters, or heroes out of veterans, and optional hooks for extended campaigns allow GMs to make further use of the book’s fleshed-out setting and NPCs.”
Having not actually played the RPG I cant say if these modules are a good idea or not.
I would imagine though that professionally written adventure modules for a universe that has such a well planned, and in-depth back story, and that is so well known by so many people is the way I would want to go if I was running an adventure.
I have found over the years that the more well known settings, cause the most friction around the table if the person running the game knows less about the setting than the players.
What do you guys think?
Let me know your thoughts in the comment section, and if you end up picking it up, let me know what you think about the module!
We will of course let you know when it’s available!
Till then, See you on the Flipside
